Christmas programme
Although Friday 1st of December will be the inaugural day, the programme of activities will start on Sunday 26th of November at 17:00 hours with a Christmas snack at Cortijo Don Elías organised by the Mijas Town Hall, in collaboration with the Federation of Mijas Associations and the Mibu Cultural Association. As well as tasting chocolate and Christmas sweets, there will be performances by the pastoral (Spanish Christmas Carols) groups El Camorro, La Paz and the Unión del Cante Choir. Admission is free.
On the other hand, from the 1st to the 17th of December, the Plaza de la Constitución in Mijas will host a Christmas market with traditional products. On Sunday, December 3rd, at 17:00 hours, the Las Lagunas Theatre will hold a Christmas concert for the elderly with free admission until full capacity is reached. Also, on the 16th of December, the Mijas Music Band will perform on the Plaza Virgen de la Peña. It will take place at 19:00 hours.
There will be no shortage of activities for the little ones. The Father Christmas village will have workshops with different themes imparted by elves and other typical Christmas characters. In this village, Father Christmas will have his own little house where he will welcome children who wish to come and greet him and leave their wishes. This village will be located in the three centres of the municipality: in the La Butibamba park in La Cala, in Andalucía park in Las Lagunas and on the Virgen de la Peña square in Mijas Pueblo.
The Christmas Town with the Royal Postman will be another of the activities planned. There will be free bouncy castles and games for all those attending, as well as an area for the Royal Postman who will collect the letters sent by the little ones to the Three Wise Men from the East. The Butibamba park in La Cala, Fernán Caballero park in Las Lagunas and the Virgen de la Peña square in Mijas village have been the places chosen for this Christmas Town.
All of this without forgetting the important role that the pastoral groups will play. The Plaza Virgen de la Peña will host a large marquee with a stage where the different groups from different Andalusian municipalities will perform.
