The mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), is ending her time at the Provincial Council of Malaga, the institution where she was the spokesperson for the PP government until today, to focus fully on her work as mayor of the municipality of Mijas.  

Mata thus fulfils "the commitment made to the citizens of Mijas, to whom she promised absolute and exclusive dedication upon her arrival in office. In this way, the mayor leaves her seat as deputy in the provincial institution after the ordinary plenary session held this morning", announced the government team in a statement.  

"From day one it was clear to me that my dedication to Mijas had to be exclusive. My concept of public service at the head of a mayor's office cannot be understood in any other way. My top priority is the welfare of the people of Mijas, to work tirelessly to progress. That is why, as I promised, I have resigned as provincial deputy. Now it's time for Mijas, to which I am committed", says the mayoress.  

Mata's departure from the Provincial Council of Malaga comes as a result of her arrival as mayor of Mijas, the third most populated municipality in the province, in order to focus on her responsibilities.  

After the plenary session of the Provincial Council of Malaga, Mata thanked her colleagues "for the work we have done together during these months in the council and, in particular, its president, Francisco Salado, who "from the outset supported my decision to make my work as mayor incompatible with that of the council".
