Last Saturday 18th, the Mijas Lions Club held a charity dinner at the Ilunion Hotel in Mijas, where 67 members from different clubs on the Costa del Sol gathered. The event was very well attended and included different raffles, all with the aim of raising funds. " The motive of this meeting is altruistic. The money we have raised is going to be used for our Christmas Basket activity, through which we help people in need by providing them with products and basic necessities", declared the president of the Mijas club, Guy Rondon.
In a relaxed atmosphere and in good company, the Lions enjoyed an evening with live music and were able to raise 3,000 euros. According to the vice-president, Michel Sancey, "after the pandemic and the hiatus, Mijas is again full to help the people of the village because we need to work in this direction, that is why we have organised the dinner". One of the members, Javier Fructuoso, pointed out that "it is the first time that this dinner has been held, and the new president of the Lions Club has had, I think, a magnificent idea to hold, in this case for the first time, a gala evening".
In Rondon's words, "the event was a success". "They came from clubs in Marbella, Fuengirola and other towns. It is always nice that other clubs support us in our activities because they are always activities for the benefit of society," said Fructuoso. To conclude, the vice-president stressed that "a lot of people have come, more than we expected, but we are very happy".
