The students themselves showed off their designs at the flamenco dress parade organised by Costurmoda on October 26th at the Cepyme stand at the Fuengirola fairground. "The truth is that it was a very beautiful and emotional fashion show", explained the director of the sewing school, Raquel Guaita.
In total, nine flamenco dresses were presented, "designed and made by our own students", explained the head of the school in Mijas. The fashion show is, therefore, "very motivating" for the apprentices, said Guatia, who was proud of the progress that all of them are making.
Diplomas
The parade counted with the musical collaboration of Javi Serrano's group, 'Los salvajes del rebalaje' and, in addition, there was also the presentation of diplomas to the students who have already finished their pattern-making course. "And they also had the opportunity to present their latest costumes", added Guatia.
Currently, the school has about 60 students, mostly girls, and of all ages. "I also have little girls who are learning to sew and that is very important", added Guaita, who recalled that the school has been running for 6 years in Mijas.
For Costurmoda, it is very important to give visibility to sustainable fashion and Andalusian talent. For this reason, "and to raise the profile of this profession as well", said the director, the school organises fashion shows and design presentations whenever it has the opportunity.
