New awareness-raising campaign to keep the town clean

  • Three prizes of 100 euros each will be drawn to be spent in local shops

The councillors for Street Cleaning and Citizen Participation invite people to upload photos with the phrase 'I comply and #cuidomijas'

The councils for Street Cleaning and Citizen Participation together with the company FCC, concessionaire of this service in Mijas, are launching a new campaign to raise public awareness. The aim is to improve the image of the municipality with the cooperation of the residents. Showing off Mijas and taking care of the environment will have a prize, specifically, three prizes of 100 euros each will be raffled among all those who upload photos of beautiful corners of the town. Residents in Mijas over the age of 18 can participate.

The councillor responsible for the areas, Belén Roca (PSOE), announced the launch of the campaign on Monday 23rd of October: "Until the 23rd of November you can upload photos of any corner of Mijas, the one you like and fall in love with, and the one you want to show off about your town. You have to upload a photo attaching the phrase 'Yo cumplo y #cuidomijas y con esta foto presumo de mi ciudad' (I comply and #careforMijas and with this photo I show off my town). Among all participants, we will draw three prizes of 100 euros to spend in the Mijas shops of your choice.  The photo can be uploaded to Facebook, X (Twitter) or Instagram and each person can participate a maximum of three times, that is, once for each social network. You can also participate with a selfie in a beautiful corner of the city, the winning image will be printed on all the posters that will be distributed to local businesses.

You can find all the information and competition rules on the website cuidamijas.es. The prize draw will be accompanied by the launch of four promotional videos focused on street cleaning. One global and three others focused on more sensitive issues within street cleaning such as the collection of excrement and diluting pet urine, the collection of household goods and furniture and taking out the rubbish at the stipulated time. All of these can already be seen on the raffle website www.cuidamijas.es, where photographs of the participants will also be uploaded. According to Roca, "from our council we want to continue to raise awareness among citizens so that they collaborate in having a clean city. The slogan fits perfectly, 'To show off, you have to comply'. It is everyone's job, big and small, to keep the town clean and beautiful".
