Work begins to improve the Alhamar sewerage system

  • The works have an investment of more than 170,000 euros from the Acosol canon and a completion period of two months

This action was demanded by the residents of the area, who have been suffering from problems with septic tanks for decades

"A minor work, from an economic point of view, but of vital importance for the improvement of services in the area", says the councillor for Infrastructure and Works of the Mijas Town Hall, José Carlos Martín (Cs), since "the sanitation of all these buildings, the Almirante building and all the adjoining ones, is via septic tanks, They do not have a connection to the main sewage network, and one of the issues that the neighbours raised with us was precisely to solve this problem, which was increasing, as there are more and more neighbours and these septic tanks are becoming full faster and faster, with the problems that this entails, such as possible spillages, cleaning them, etc.".

It was a few months ago when the Mijas Town Hall had the drafting of the project and the relevant reports from Costas and Medio Ambiente to start the works, which have started this week with an investment of 172,000 euros from the Acosol canon. "Once the two-month completion period is over, the residents of this area, who have been suffering from this drainage problem practically since 1970, will see a substantial improvement in their quality of life", said Martín.

The councillor thanked Acosol for the speed with which it has carried out the drafting of the project and the tender for the work and apologised for the inconvenience caused, although "it is true that we have made the start date coincide with the end of the high tourist season because in summer it was complicated to carry out this work, so if all goes well and the weather also holds out, by the end of the year or beginning of the next, this work will be finished and the residents, as I said before, will notice a leap in quality in their daily lives", concluded the councillor.
