This positive figure is in addition to the forecasts for October provided by the hotel employers' association, which show Benalmádena, Mijas, Málaga city and Marbella as the most popular destinations on the Costa del Sol. This newspaper interviewed the directors of two important hotels in the municipality to talk about the development of the tourist season: Félix Reyes, from the Hotel TRH Mijas, and Manuel Camacho, from the Vik Gran Hotel Costa del Sol.  

According to Reyes, "September has been a pretty good month, according to the forecasts we had, it was already going well, but after the closure, the truth is that we have reached almost 95% occupancy. We have even had some overbooking problems, diverting groups to other hotels and the truth is that we are happy with the results of September". The director of the Hotel TRH Mijas explains that its strongest months are September and October rather than July and August due to the type of client it has, even so he considers that "we have also had good occupancy in July, reaching 80%, and 85% in August". 

For his part, the director of the Vik Gran Hotel Costa del Sol, located in La Cala on the beachfront, said that the month of September was "particularly good, as we have been around 92 and 93 percent occupancy". Camacho explains that "during the first ten days of September we have still had a lot of national tourists and, from the second fortnight onwards, we have had, above all, a lot of foreign tourism". As for October, he expects an occupancy rate of 80-85% and, in November, "we have closed a very good operation of Nordic tourism that will allow us to have a very good November". 

Camacho also stated that "Mijas is at all the tourism fairs, we do good promotion, it is a multiversal destination, you have everything in Mijas and whether we have a fantastic location or not, obviously, people keep visiting us", to which he added that "La Cala de Mijas, little by little, over the years, has been opening up a little more. Businesses are open all year round, restaurants, supermarkets and, therefore, the hotel is also open all year round and, moreover, we have good forecasts. We hope that they will be fulfilled and that October will also be a strong month".
