As every year when the summer ends, the aquatic facilities of the Water Park also close. "We opened the park in May due to the good weather we were enjoying, and we closed it just a few weeks ago. Throughout the summer season the park has been enjoyed by many children and has been practically full every day. Almost 9,000 children have enjoyed this park during the 150 days of summer", explained the councillor for Parks and Gardens of Mijas Town Hall, Laura Moreno (PSOE), during a visit to the facilities.

"Something also very important to highlight this summer is that the park has been available to all the summer schools in our municipality so that during certain hours it was closed for them", added the councillor. Moreno said that the Water Park "is a great area of coexistence for the summer, a meeting point for residents of Las Cañadas and also for neighbours from other parts of the municipality and other towns. 

Future locations
Such is the success of this water park, the only one of its kind in the municipality, Moreno said that the Parks and Gardens department is currently looking for other locations to install more water parks. "We are going to continue to maintain this park in optimum conditions because it is a reference point for the local residents", explained the councillor, who pointed out that the Park is still open, albeit without water.

A sustainable facility
As for the operation of the facilities, Moreno explained that "during the entire period that the park has been open, it has operated on a closed circuit, therefore the water is chlorinated, it is controlled by the company that maintains it and no water is wasted, other than that which may evaporate or, in this case, that which is used for the maintenance of the park itself".
