It seems that these days we have a lot of people from Mijas around Spain as, apart from the elderly who are enjoying their holidays in Zahara de los Atunes, on Tuesday, another group of locals went to Albacete. A total of 50 people from the three centres are taking part in the cultural trip to the so-called Switzerland of La Mancha, organised by the Department for Culture of the Mijas Town Hall.
Until Friday they will visit five villages in the province of Albacete as well as the capital, all of them characterised by their great historical, architectural and natural wealth. They have already visited the source of the River Mundo, the municipality of Ayna and Alcalá de Júzcar, among other places.
"It is being a beautiful trip in which we are discovering small villages with a lot of charm and in a natural and geological environment that make it special", said the councillor for Culture, Verónica Ensberg (PSOE), who is accompanying the group along with the technicians of the department.
After several years without taking place, and at the request of the Mijeños themselves, the Department for Culture has tried to ensure that this activity "brings together nature, heritage and oenology, also encouraging coexistence between neighbours, family and friends".
