Around 500 pensioners and retired people from Las Lagunas, divided into ten buses, started their well-deserved holidays in Zahara de los Atunes.
Once again, the car park of the water park was the meeting point for the different groups that make up this third shift. Nerves were very present first thing in the morning, but so was the excitement of starting a trip that looks to be very complete. "Of course I'm excited, so much so that I woke up at 4 o'clock in the morning and I haven't slept since. And the suitcase has been packed for four days or more", joked Mercedes Maldonado, one of the travellers, while Encarni Moreno was very happy "to be going on this trip for another year, because that's a sign that we are still in good health and can come".
Many of the seniors taking part in this trip already know some parts of the province of Cádiz, including Antonio Postigo, who said he had visited "Cádiz a few times, but this trip is great because it helps us to get away from our daily routine".
Councillors Belén Roca (PSOE) and Natalia Martínez (PSOE) also came to the water park, along with councillor Hipólito Zapico (PSOE), as well as family members who will obviously miss the travellers these days, "but I am not worried because I know they are in good hands and I am sure that my mother is going to have a good time, although she has not decided to come until almost the last day", said Juan Carlos Pajares, a resident of Las Lagunas.
At eight o'clock in the morning the different buses set off for Zahara de los Atunes, although first, as always, there was a short stop for breakfast in Chiclana de la Frontera. Three days of excursions, good times at the hotel, where the rooms have already been allocated, and lots of laughter among friends await them.
