We already know that Mijas spreads talent all over the world. An example of this can be found in Marcos Merino, pianist for nine years in the international band World Citizen, which offers concerts in different cities in Europe and Latin America. Next Saturday 7th of October, at 22:00, we will have the opportunity to listen to the group very close to us, at the Clarence club in Torremolinos. 

World Citizen is the name of this jazz band, which was founded in Berlin in 2013 and which Merino joined the following year, releasing two albums since then, and showing their work in different parts of Europe and Latin America. Their next tour will begin in October, with nine concerts in two weeks, including the one in Torremolinos. "I come to Mijas from time to time to visit my family, but it is difficult to move the project and, above all, it has been complicated to bring it to Málaga, but we have managed it and in a few days we will be able to present our work here, in front of my family and friends", said the artist, feeling very happy about it.

This band is made up of musicians from Costa Rica, Argentina, Israel, Denmark and Spain. This cultural mix is obviously reflected in their songs "because we write music for the group, we already know how to make the other members shine and how we can include our different personalities in the compositions", said the pianist. 

Another peculiarity of the group is that each of its members rehearses from their own studio in a different city in the world. "I do it from Madrid, another from New York, another from the north of Denmark... We try to keep in touch as best we can, organising videoconferences to talk about the concerts, send each other the compositions, learn the music, etc.", he explained. 

His work is his passion, however, which is why the pianist has only words of thanks "for continuing to live from his music". If you would like to hear him and the other members of World Citizen, all you have to do is come to his concert in Torremolinos on the 7th of October. Tickets are already on sale.
