The Friends of the Theatre Association of Marbella will take to the stage at the Las Lagunas Theatre for a good cause on the 30th of September, at 20:00 hours: to raise funds for the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Mijas. In the play they will present ‘Entremés’, in which Miguel de Cervantes shines in all his splendour. They will perform ‘El viejo celoso’, ‘Los habladores’ and ‘El retablo de las maravillas’. “They are very funny Cervantes’ ‘entremeses’, of classical theatre, from the Baroque period”, said the councillor for Social Inclusion, Hipólito Zapico (PSOE), who invited the public to attend and to collaborate with the cause. Tickets can be purchased for 5 euros, which will go entirely to the association, through entradium.com or at the box office on the day of the event. These funds will go to research. “We want 70% of cancer patients to be cured, which is what the association is fighting for”, said the president of the AECC Mijas, Lola Sanchís. Zapico highlighted the work of the volunteers in the association, and “that thanks to all the work nowadays a lot of progress has been made in the fight against cancer and there are many who can be cured”. The theatrical performance will also serve to present the new assembly of the association in Mijas. “The general management of the AECC understands that the Mijas entity has its own organization to have a structure” and added that “they are starting all the procedures together with the new board so that, shortly, they can have a headquarters where they can attend to all the people, as they are doing right now in Fuengirola, where they attend to patients and families of both municipalities”. It should be remembered that the Fuengirola assembly currently provides services and care to more than 400 cancer patients and relatives in Mijas. Volunteering The Mijas AECC is calling on the public to join the team of volunteers to respond to the needs of patients and their families. Thus, on Friday 22nd, information tables will be set up in Mijas Pueblo and the Plaza San Valentín in Las Lagunas, where the latest research projects carried out by the NGO will be presented.
