The organisers unveil the dates of the next edition: Cala Mijas will return on the 29th, 30th and 31st of August 2024 and tickets are already available

The international festival Cala Mijas closed its second edition last Saturday with the attendance of more than 110,000 visitors, according to Last Tour, the organising company together with the Mijas Town Hall. For three days, the Sonora Mijas venue and the stages of La Cala beach became the national centre of the best music.

Saturday's chronicle

With that magical, magnetic and slightly phantasmagoric halo, Florence Welch appeared on the Sunrise stage. She arrived like a nymph, barefoot and without crutches, as many expected to see her after her recent operation that almost kept her away from the Sonora Mijas. The Briton seduced her audience, especially those who from early in the afternoon crowded under the stage to take their places, and the female fans who dressed like her in tunics and flowers. The artist jumped, ran and danced as if she were one hundred percent recovered, a real 'machine'. Florence and the Machine did not disappoint the thousands of people who attended the third and last day of the Cala Mijas Festival. The Sonora venue vibrated with their live performance and their music, which combines various genres such as indie, rock and soul.

The British singer appeared on stage at 23:45. Her repertoire included some of the songs from her latest album, 'Dance Fever', as well as her greatest hits such as 'Dog Days Are Over' and 'You've Got The Love'.

Florence and the Machine, Saturday's headliner, showed greatness, the same greatness reflected in the second edition of this festival. In this way, Cala Mijas becomes a reference in the national circuit of festivals. This is the end of a long awaited event in which Mijas has become an oasis of music and pure enjoyment. And the best thing is that the Cala Mijas festival promises to continue offering us the best in terms of gastronomy, sustainability and, of course, music with exceptional headliners, because there is already a date for the next edition. It will take place on August 29th, 30th and 31st 2024. Season tickets are already available, are you in?

Line-up on Saturday

The Sunrise stage, together with the Victoria and Sunset stages, was also used this afternoon and evening by bands and artists such as La Plazuela, Duki, The Blaze, Niños Luchando, José Gonzáles, Metronomy, Belle&Sebastian, Arca, Ballena, Judeline, Ethel Cain, Baiuca, La Élite, Alvva, Tom Vr, Axel Boman, Ketiov b2b Moxie, I. Jordan and Helena Hauff.

La Caleta

The La Caleta stage also experienced a day of dreamlike, electronic magic this Saturday. In this space, larger than in the last edition, some of the most acclaimed names on the scene were present, such as Buganvilla, Dudino, James Holden, Nicola Cruz, Prosumer and Cormac.

The Beach

This Saturday music was also played from 12:00 on the free access stage at 'La Playa', located at El Torreón de la Cala de Mijas with Aiko el Grupo, Sistema de Entretenimiento, The Deniros, Safety Trance and Playdoo Club.

Highlights of these days

On the first day, Thursday 31st of August, the intense and exciting performance by Arcade Fire was one of the most awaited live performances by the national and international audience. The Canadian band offered an almost theatrical performance of their latest album as well as a review of their greatest hits which, chanted by all the attendees in unison, made the festival rumble.

On Friday, The Strokes delighted an audience devoted to their greatest hits. The so-called "saviours of rock", backed by more than 20 years of career and seven albums behind them, the latest of which, 'The Singles-Volume 01', have shown why they earned this nickname that has accompanied them since the legendary 'Is This It', released in 2001.

Gastronomic offerings

The necessary dinner break was supported by the varied km0 gastronomic offer of Cala Mijas in a larger restaurant area, which covered all the needs of the attendees, supported by agreements with local suppliers.

Sustainability

This Cala Mijas has been more sustainable and comfortable than ever, improving accessibility to the event, with uninterrupted buses from Mijas Pueblo, the car parks El Hipódromo, El Lagar (Entrerríos), Las Lagunas and the campsite, more than 200 free water points and a green team managing the disposal of waste at all stages of the event.
