The Mijas Fair Proclamation tops the list of plans for this weekend

  • The Municipal Auditorium Miguel González Berral will host the event
  • The proclamation for the 2023 Mijas Fair will take place at the Auditorium in the Village

From 20:30 hours, this year's 'pregón' will be offered by local resident and weather man, Cristóbal Gambero

The Mijas Fair 2023 is approaching and the municipality is already getting everything ready to live one of the most beloved fairs by the neighbours. On Saturday 26th of August, the Municipal Auditorium Miguel González Berral will host the opening proclamation of this festivity by Cristóbal Gambero from Mijas. It will be from 20:30 hours when this year's master of ceremonies will kick off the festivities in honour of the Virgen de la Peña.

Leaving aside the Mijas Fair, on Friday 25th the Folk Museum in Mijas Pueblo will host the photographic exhibition 'La revelación de las formas', by José Carlos Hevilla. The inauguration will take place at 20:00 hours and can be visited until the 11th of September.

Saturday 26th will also be a great day for book lovers: all those who wish to can attend the presentation of the book 'Soledaridad', co-written by Julio Conejo together with eight other friends. La Puerta del Ágora (Pasaje de la Golondrinas, 8) will be the venue for the presentation of this book, which is on the market at a price of 8 euros and all proceeds from its sales will go entirely to Cudeca. In the afternoon, the author Cristina Núñez García will present her book 'Por miedo a rompernos'. This time it will be the Folk Museum which will host this author and her book, starting at 19:00.

More leisure plans

La Cala also enjoys its nightly evenings with the Vive Mijas de Noche programme which this Friday 25th will bring the dance group Azabache to the stage located at La Butibamba park. They will perform from 22 hours and admission will be free.

Mijas residents and visitors can also continue to enjoy the last days of August, the Mijas Town Hall's Youth Territory programme with activities such as kayaking, paddle surfing, beach volleyball and other aquatic and refreshing plans. All those interested in participating in these activities will need to register in advance on the website experiencias.es.

And, among other plans, residents and tourists can also visit the exhibition 'The beauty of the impossible III', until August 31st, at the Tourist Office in Mijas Pueblo or a photographic exhibition by the students of the Open University, in this case until August 28th, at the Cultural Centre in Las Lagunas.
