The works are 35 % completed

The comprehensive remodelling of this road in the El Juncal neighbourhood has a budget of 728,000 euros

Last June, work began on the complete remodelling of Camino Molino de Viento, in the El Juncal neighbourhood, and two months later the works are 35 percent complete, which means that they are on schedule. This was confirmed today during his visit to the area by the first deputy mayor of the city and the councillor for Infrastructures and Works, José Carlos Martín (Cs). "These works seek, like most of the comprehensive refurbishment works carried out in our municipality, firstly, to ensure that the sewage network is separate and that the existing one is substantially improved. Secondly, to improve accessibility, because it was an area that had many problems in terms of accessibility, because one side of the road had no pavement. We have to improve this, make the pavements accessible, especially for people with reduced mobility, and then renovate all the underground infrastructure, renew the supply network, lighting with new LED technology, telecommunications, etc.", explained Martín, who added "we are satisfied with the pace of the works and we hope it will continue like this".

The works have an investment of 728,000 euros. Part of this investment corresponds to the Joint Investment Plans (PIM) that the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol (Mancomunidad) allocated last 2022 to Mijas, and it has a deadline of seven months, so, if everything goes as planned, it will be finished in December. "It is a main road in El Juncal and I believe that with this project we finish the main works in this neighbourhood, starting with the car park and continuing along the streets, such as Río Darro and Virgen de la Paz, among others, and now Molino de Viento. In this way we finish organising the whole area and substantially improve the quality of life of the residents who live in this neighbourhood", concluded Martín.
