The Ministry for Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has signed a 1.8 million euro contract for the repair of 12 pedestrian walkways in the province of Malaga, located between kilometres 158.92 and 197.65 of the A-7 motorway, that is, in the towns of Estepona, Marbella and Mijas. In our municipality, specifically, the footbridge located in the Calahonda area, at kilometre point 197 +100, and another between Miraflores and Riviera, at kilometre point 197 +650, will be repaired.
The intervention is included in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which will allocate up to 357 million euros of NextGenerationEU funds, which also includes the modernisation of more than 80 tunnels of the State Road Network. The actions envisaged are aimed at repairing the existing deterioration of the structures in order to improve their durability and safety conditions, given that they are close to the sea.
Among other interventions, surface damage and corrosion on the railings, chipping with visible reinforcement on different elements of the footbridges, rusting of metal profiles, horizontal cracks and accesses to the structures in poor condition will be repaired. The Ministry for Transport has announced in a press release sent to the media that the corresponding announcement will soon be published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
