To promote glass recycling within the domestic environment. With this objective in mind, the Town Hall will raffle two Ecovidrio mini-glass containers as part of the Green Flags Movement campaign to which the municipality is adhered through the Cleaning Department. “Mijas is at the head of the municipalities that recycle the most on the Costa del Sol. During the summer, we triple the amount of glass containers and with this contest we want to encourage recycling and raise awareness of the importance of using household recycling containers correctly”, explained the councillor for Cleaning and Citizen Participation, Belén Roca (PSOE), who stressed that “small gestures are the ones that add up”.
It is worth remembering that more than 127 establishments in Mijas are participating this summer in the fourth edition of the #GreenFlagsMovement, an initiative launched by Ecovidrio, the non-profit organisation responsible for the management of glass packaging waste recycling in Spain, in collaboration with the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol and the Mijas Town Hall.
Ecovidrio has sent these establishments special bins to facilitate recycling. “Our hoteliers have understood the importance of glass recycling and with this new competition what we want is that recycling is also transferred to our homes”, added Roca.
The competition to win two Ecovidrio ‘miniglús’ will be carried out through the social networks of the Citizen Participation department, as Juana Barrera, the area’s technician, explained. “To do this, those interested should follow the 'Participation Ciudadana' FaceBook page, make a comment on the competition post mentioning two friends and ‘Like’ and share one of the publications of the draw including the hashtags #Miniglu #MovimientoBanderasVerdes #CuidaMijas #ConcienciaciónCiudadana”, she explained.
The competition will be open until the 9th of September and the winners will be chosen by draw in the middle of that same month.
