With this in mind, the Irish filmmaker Zeff Lawless, member of the Petanca Club of La Cala, has made a friendly short film to promote this sport and to reflect how people from different countries live together and integrate thanks to this activity in which it doesn't matter who wins.  "If you win, great, if you don't, no problem," laughs Lawless. 

Based in Mijas for the last year and winner of numerous awards at film festivals for his work as a screenwriter, director and actor, he says it has been a "fantastic experience" to be able to shoot the short film: "We shot the video over three or four days, also on the beach, to create different environments, at different times of the day. We tell people to get together, have a good time and enjoy what we have," he says.

In Ireland we don't play boules and here it's fantastic. The business is great, the people are beautiful, I've made a lot of friends here.
Those who took part in the video recording are delighted to have been part of it and the Cali club is grateful for the initiative. "Although we are a young club, this sport is going to be seen all over the world thanks to this short film by Zeff, who had the idea, it has been a fantastic experience", declared the president of the La Cala Petanque Club, Miguel Benitez.

For his part, José Enrique Parapar, a member of the club and of the cast of this short film, pointed out that he proposed to the director to make "a shout of encouragement" to the cry of "La Cala Petanca, arriba, arriba", accompanied by all the members of the club, while a member of the club accompanied him playing the guitar. 

On the other hand, the Mijas club is looking forward to the organisation of the Málaga and Andalusian Petanque championships in the autumn.
