The Soroptimist International Association has once again made a significant donation to Cruz Roja Mijas, 500 euros in milk and oil, a contribution that goes to the Food Bank, which is responsible for its distribution to families in need in the municipality.
"We are here because Soroptimist has made a donation of milk and oil to the Red Cross after the charity dinner in June where we raised 2,100 euros, thank you very much to everyone for participating", said the president of Soroptimist International Costa del Sol, Dafne Theunissen.
Around 80 people attended the Soroptimist meeting in June, which included a street market, different activities and music. The councillor for Social Inclusion of the Mijas Town Hall attended the delivery of the solidarity food.
"We simply support them and thank them for this collaboration which is always so interesting and positive for the people of Mijas", said the councillor for Social Inclusion, Hipólito Zapico.
The Food Bank works with FEGA funds that have suffered a cut due to the war and inflation, so the aid also arrives by other means.
"With the new laws that prevent large retailers from throwing away part of the food, we are also receiving help from supermarkets on a regular basis", concluded Zapico.
