Second weekend of August and the leisure plans in Mijas do not run out. The summer is full of cultural events, music, folklore and other activities that during these days will fill the municipality with good moments and anecdotes to remember.
So, this Friday 11th of August, the Torreón square in La Cala will host the cycle 'A la fresca. Music by the sea' which this time will bring the 7th edition of the International Folklore Festival with performances by the Sur de Andalucía dance group from Cala, the Ballet Folklorico de Casanare Foundation from Colombia and the Ciudad de Marbella dance group. Before the shows begin, at 22 hours, there will be a parade through some parts of the seaside town. Admission is free.
More plans for Saturday 12th of August. Music lovers will be able to attend the now legendary event organised by the Tourism Department, the Celtic Night. The show will start at 21:00 hours at the municipal auditorium in Mijas Pueblo with performances by Stolen Notes, Los Stompers and Nuala Irish Dancers and Mosquera Celtic Band. There will also be a bar with food and drink on the premises. On the other hand, that same Saturday night, the María Barranco Neighbourhood Association will celebrate its famous White Night. There will be music by DJ Vicente and drinks of the best brands. The party will start at 21:00 and it is essential to dress in white.
And to close the weekend, on Sunday 13th of August, the band Im-Pulse will offer a tribute concert to Pink Floyd at the Miguel González Berral Municipal Auditorium. From 22:00 hours onwards, we will be able to listen to hits such as 'Time', 'Comfortably numb' and 'Shine on you crazy diamond' by the successful British rock band, considered a cultural icon and one of the most influential and acclaimed groups in the history of music. Until the end of August you can also continue to enjoy the Ruta de la Tapa de Mijas Pueblo every Tuesday and Thursday from 19:30 to 23 hours. And after dinner, what better than a moonlit stroll through Mijas Pueblo and enjoy the concerts offered by the Vive Mijas de Noche programme on the Plaza Virgen de la Peña. In addition, next Wednesday 16th of August you can also enjoy the Summer Cinema cycle, which will show its last film this summer also on the Virgen de la Peña square with the film 'Padre no hay más que uno 3'. The screening will start at 22:30 and admission is free.
