The Mijas Blues Night always has a large audience eager to have a good time with live music from great bands playing this style of music. This year’s edition featured the Malaga-based Vicky King Band, Will Jacobs & Marcos Coll Band and, finally, the highlight of the bill, Richard Ray Farrell and his All Star Blues Band.
The councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs), commented that “once again this year, the auditorium is full for this blues night and it is an example of the attraction of having nights like this and also the attraction of Mijas for the number of tourists who come on a special day because our town brings together many summer events and festivals”, to which he added that “often when planning the various events we do not know how far the public’s reaction might go. There are days when the forecasts are exceeded, like today, but as long as there is room, we will continue to hold these events”.
Among the audience there were people from all walks of life but, without a doubt, with a common characteristic: their love for blues. As Juana Lagunas, a regular at the event, told us, “I love it, we usually come almost every year when there is blues and also to other festivals, it’s just a lovely place”. Or families who choose this experience for a Saturday night, as Carolina Quevedo assured us, because “we really wanted to come and enjoy the music because we don’t like blues very much”, to which she added that “Mijas always hosts many events and everything is very well organised”.
Mobility
To facilitate mobility and to make it easier for the public to attend the event, the shuttle bus, which links the El Puerto quarry with the centre of Mijas Pueblo, ran for an extra hour, making its last journey at two in the morning. In addition, the Urban Mobility Department also asked the Transport Consortium to extend the timetable of the M-122, with the idea of facilitating access from Las Lagunas and Fuengirola.
