Sara Campaña and Ángel Luis Mendo are two of the most outstanding athletes of Club Atletismo Mijas in the last few years, they are very much loved in the club and have grown up with Salvi and Cerezo, their coaches in the middle distance speciality.  Now they compete with Club Atletismo Nerja, (Sara), and with Go Fit Athletics, (Ángel), but they continue training on the track of the racecourse.  Now they are facing one of the most exciting challenges they have ever had to face, to take the leap and study at two American universities, at the same time as training at the highest level.  Ángel, who wants to study Health Sciences, will leave in mid-August for Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire, near Boston.  The athletes are on scholarships from both universities. "It is an achievement that not everyone can access, we are a small group of athletes who can travel there and we are very happy" said Mendo on the track before training.  "I'm very happy that this university has chosen me, it's a trophy, a prize for all those years of daily sacrifice". 

It will all be different "the day will start very early to train at seven in the morning, then classes, then back to training, study and see if I can also work on something".  Sara, meanwhile, will follow the path that her brother, a javelin specialist, has blazed, and will go to Scad University in Atlanta to study interior design. "I feel very lucky, I am eager to start as soon as possible", said Sara, who also said that "it was my dream since I was a little girl, to go there, to study and to be able to combine the two things I am passionate about, athletics and design".  The middle distance and steeplechase runner also started with Salvi, and then went on to train with Cerezo.  Her new situation will take her to a place where "everything is focused on training, they adapt the schedules and contents to make your day-to-day life easier".  The future holds a beautiful phase between books, university environment and, for sure, demanding training.  Best of luck to both!
