The Cultural Delegation of the Mijas Town Hall presents a new musical cycle to liven up the summer nights: 'A la fresca.Music by the sea'. "As every year, we are looking forward to this cycle that will take place on Fridays in August in such a special place as the Torreón square in La Cala de Mijas", said the councillor responsible for the area, Verónica Ensberg (PSOE), who presented the programme together with the head of the department, Francisco Gutiérrez. 

From boleros to coplas

"We begin on Friday 4th of August with Ana Serrano and Hugo Dogma on guitar with their show from the bolero to the copla", the councillor explained. On this occasion, according to the singer herself, the public will be able to enjoy a "different show, which mixes two cultures, such as the flamenco bolero school with the Cuban school". 

Folklore

On Friday 11th the 6th La Cala International Folklore Festival will take place, organised once again this year by the group Sur de Andalucía, directed by Rafi Cuevas. Alongside this year's performers will be the Fundación Ballet Folklorico de Casanare from Colombia and Navchintan Kala Manch Beas from India. Before the performance on stage, the councillor reminded the audience, "there will be a parade of all the groups that will start from the Cultural Centre to the Torreón and then we will have the opportunity to enjoy our traditional dances and also the international dances of the groups from Colombia and India that visit us". 

Flamenco

The cycle will end on Friday 18th of August with 'Copla y poesía por aires de bulería' (Copla and poetry through bulería).

All concerts are free of charge and will start at 22:00. "I would like to invite all the people from Mijas and all visitors to enjoy this series of concerts in such a special place as the Torreón", concluded the councillor.
