Mijas will have two representatives in the XXXI Spanish Figure Skating Championships, in the Roser Llop sports centre in Figueres (Catalonia) from 12th to 16th of July. Claudia Vélez, in the junior and Nerea Arranz in the senior category, will represent CP Mijas-Patinaje Artístico. "They are well prepared, each one will be aiming to do their best", says coach Fran Benítez, who points out that "the season has been planned so that they can arrive in good shape for this competition". 

On Wednesday 12th, the official training sessions will take place before moving on to the qualifying rounds with the short discus. On Thursday 13th it will be Vélez's turn, who will start in 27th position, and on Friday 14th, Arranz, who will take the track in 18th place, will be seeking her pass to Saturday's finals. "Ideally, the later the better, but in this case, they will try to do their best to score as many points as possible. When they start in the top five, the judges start to make the cut, whereas if they start from the bottom, there are more possibilities", says the Mijas club's coach.
