The XIV Photographic Marathon Enfoca Mijas, in memory of Jesús Jaime Mota, already has winners. Three people from Mijas have won the prizes in this contest that each year increases in number of participants and quality, "not only professionals, but all photography enthusiasts", said the Councillor for Culture of the City Council, Veronica Ensberg (PSOE), who attended the awards ceremony last Friday 30 at the Casa Museo de Mijas Pueblo. " There have been 1,453 photographs submitted by 145 different participants. It has been a very difficult task for the jury, but we have to thank them because they have selected 200 photographs for the new book 'Mijas, un pueblo de foto' and 30 of them to be included in the exhibition", which was also inaugurated on Friday and can be visited until the 31st of July at the Folk Museum.
From among all the photos, the jury awarded the Photo Art Gallery Prize, a photo by Jesús Jaime, to José Manuel Jiménez; the Nuevo Enfoque Photographic Association Prize, a photographic work, to David Conejo; and the Fotocolor Image Laboratory Prize, a Wifi Fluxs Caribe Negra Action Camera, to Francisco Romero. The three winners, all from Mijas, expressed their satisfaction at having been selected. "I am very happy to have won this award. This is the fourth time I have entered the competition and on two occasions I have already won a photo in the exhibition and, in this edition, the prize. Seeing the quality and all the photographers who have taken part, I can feel nothing but pride", said Romero. "I am very happy. It has been very surprising because at no time did I expect to win any prize, but I could be in the top 30, because I always do it to participate and take a few photos", said Conejo. Jiménez was also happy with the result: "It's a great honour and even more so because it's a picture by Jesús Jaime, a person I admire very much. I took the photo first thing in the morning, from La Muralla, and I was very struck by the yellow of the car with the red of the sign".
In addition, three honourable mentions were awarded to Jesús Campos, Miguel Montero and Diego A. Lorca, although the jury admits that it was very difficult, as each year the quality of the photographs is better and better.
