The leisure agenda is very entertaining for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the programme of the Las Lagunas Fair, we have to add the "verbena" (Summer`Fete) at Sitio de Calahonda and solidarity dance performances at the Las Lagunas Theatre.
Friday's Fair
The Las Lagunas Fair will celebrate a children's party with games and entertainment for the little ones on Friday 30th of June, in the municipal booth, starting at 20:00 hours. It will be here that the baby king and queen (0 to 2 years old) and children's king and queen (from 2 years old to 15 years old) will be chosen. To take part, those interested in participating must sign up minutes before the start of the children's games.
This year there will also be a fun free 'photocall' from 21:30 hours until 00:30 hours, courtesy of the Department for Festivities of the Mijas Town Hall, where you can take your photo printed on the spot as a souvenir of the fair.
The concerts will start at 22:00 hours, first with Los Toreros Muertos, and from 23:30 hours with Seguridad Social. Admission is free for all concerts at the fair.
Saturday at the fair
The weekend is packed with a programme divided between the morning and the evening. On Saturday 1st of July the daytime fair begins at Cortijo Don Elías at 13:00 with a performance by A Compás followed by a free paella offered by the Fiestas Department. There will also be a show by Evelyn Bravo's Aprende y Baila academy and a performance by Sirope Flamenco.
The closing time for the daytime fair will be at 19:30 to give way to the evening fair. At 21:00 in the municipal booth, Jairo Moreno, Pablodeoro and DJ Bubba will perform, followed at 22:00 by Anadie; later, at 22:45, Easy-S will take over; at midnight, Toteking will take the stage and, finally, DJ La Vida de Jaime will close the evening. All concerts are free and open to the public until full capacity is reached.
Fair on Sunday
To continue with the fiestas, on Sunday 2nd of July the daytime fair will once again be held at Cortijo Don Elías. Beforehand, at 11:00 a.m., the traditional threshing exhibition will take place. There will be threshing songs by Francisco Rodríguez and Francisco Lavado, and a performance by the "panda de verdiales Primera del Puerto de la Torre". At 13:00 the official opening of the daytime fair will take place. During the day there will be a performance by the musical group Una de Dos and the Rompeolas trio will entertain the evening until 20:00 hours.
At 22:00 the evening fair performances will begin at the municipal booth, the first to perform will be Las Migas followed by the show by El Canijo de Jeréz at 23:30. As on the other days, admission will be free of charge. With these performances, the Feria de Las Lagunas 2023 will come to an end.
Other events on Saturday
On Saturday 1st of July at 19:30 the festival 'De flamencas maneras' will be held at the Las Lagunas Theatre. A show offered by the Anamari Tineo Dance School. There will be live music, projections and flamenco choreographies by the students. Once again this year, the proceeds will go to the Cudeca Foundation. Tickets are priced at 5 euros.
Also on Saturday the White Party will be held at La Cala Resort. A dinner-cocktail party with Hawaiian food, live music and a white dress code. The event will start at eight in the evening and will end in the early hours of the morning. The price is 75 euros per person with everything included to enjoy this original night. The EUC Sitio de Calahonda has prepared an intense programme for its summer party on the first day of July. A golf tournament will start at 8:45 am at La Siesta. To register, please contact 952 93 33 62. In the afternoon, in the Calahonda park, from 19:00 hours, the chiringuito bar will open and the competitions and children's games will begin. In addition, there will also be a raffle and a photography competition, to participate, take a photograph of Sitio de Calahonda with the name of the participant and the location where it was taken and send it to euc@calahondaeuc.com. To end the evening, from 21:00 hours, there will be a "verbena" with live music by the band Treading Fours.
To close a weekend full of activities, the Donkey Dreamland rescue centre has organised a walk with donkeys on Sunday, starting at 19:30 hours, which will extend into the night to see the full moon. The price is 15 euros, which will be donated to the centre and includes a picnic with tapas and drinks.
