Las Lagunas is already celebrating. Crowds of locals and visitors kicked off the Las Lagunas 2023 Fair last night. The festivities will last until Sunday 2nd of July and since Wednesday 28th, the attractions and shows can be enjoyed at the fairgrounds in Las Lagunas. This first evening began at 19:00 hours with the Children's Day, where the rides were priced at 2 euros. There were also performances by various dance groups, including students from Feli Gabriel's Universidad Popular, members of Evelyn Bravo's Academia Aprende y Baila and apprentices from María José Bueno's Academia Expresión.

At 22:00 hours the local authorities, with the mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), and the councillor for Festivities, Tamara Vera (PSOE), at the head, accompanied by other councillors and some neighbours, inaugurated the fairgrounds with the switching on of the artistic lighting. On the Mijas 3.40 TV set, the mayor said that "today, we can say without fear of contradiction that the fair has got off to a great start, that it is a great success and for the moment we have five exciting days of events and participation ahead of us and, above all, we want people to have a good time, to forget their problems and worries for a moment, at least to put them aside for a few days so that they can enjoy these special days with their friends and family". For her part, the councillor for Fiestas stated that "when we arrive at this moment, when we switch on the lights, it is time to smile, to look at each other because there are also many hours of work by the staff, it is time to appreciate the work they do to be able to be here now, so that we can have a few days of enjoyment, to have a good time with our families and friends".

Once the fair was lit up, the representatives of the Town Hall went to the Municipal Booth where the candidates for King, Queen, Ladies, Mister and Miss Congeniality paraded on stage dressed in casual, flamenco and gala costumes, showing all their beauty and art thanks to the choreography by the teacher Anamari Titeo. The election was complicated for the jury, formed by the kings of Las Lagunas 2022, the kings of La Cala 2022 and Miss Malaga 2022, Irene Navarro, who finally chose Gonzalo Garcia and Enara Merino king and queen of the Las Lagunas Fair 2023. The ladies were María Rodríguez and Alicia Rodríguez, and the positions of Mister and Miss Congeniality 2023 went to Salvador España and Rocío Núñez. Meanwhile, to liven up the contest, the students of the Anamari Tineo Academy and the 'Academia Expresión' run by María José Bueno performed between each pass.

All those who want to follow the fair from home can do so on the Mijas Comunicación media, as every night until Saturday, from the Municipal Booth, we offer a special live programme that you can follow on Mijas 3.40 TV, mijascomunicacion.com, on our social networks and on the app. We also seized the moment on Wednesday to celebrate the 29th anniversary of Mijas 3.40 TV, which was officially on the 6th of June accompanied by the mayor and the councillor for Festivities.
