Cudeca is seeking volunteers for the opening of its shops this summer

  • Among these establishments is the one in La Cala de Mijas
  • For more information, please contact Cudeca's Volunteering department at voluntariado@cudeca.org or 671 04 83 04

The objective is to give the people who collaborate with the NGO during the rest of the year a well-deserved rest

During the year each of the 27 shops that Cudeca has in the province, one of them in La Cala, opens its doors thanks to the commitment and selfless help of the volunteers. Therefore, Cudeca wants to compensate them by giving them a short break during the summer by looking for new people to take their place over the next few months. They are looking for people willing to enjoy a moment of solidarity and collaborate one day a week for 4 hours. In addition, the organisation assures that each volunteer contributes "their time, skills, affection and commitment to what they do and, at the same time, they create bonds with other volunteers" and, in some cases, they practice English.

For anyone who doesn't know, Cudeca is a Malaga-based NGO whose goal is to help, care for and accompany people with cancer and other advanced illnesses (palliative care) by offering support to 1,800 patients and more than 2,400 family members. The shops sell items, especially clothes, donated by the community and are its main source of income. For Cudeca, "the volunteers are the engine of their shops and help the customers who come in, making sure the shop looks nice and is well organised". In addition, they also help with the reception and sorting of donations that will later be sold in the shop.
