Mijas Pueblo and La Cala will be celebrating St. John's Eve with parties

  • The AV La Loma de La Alquería will also commemorate 'San Juan' with a lunch on Saturday 24th
  • La Cala de Mijas will live a magical night

The Torreón beach and Virgen de la Peña square will host activities on Friday night and early Saturday morning

Midsummer's Eve is coming to Mijas, as it does every 23rd of June, and the town is prepared to celebrate it as it deserves. For this, the Youth Department of the Mijas Town Hall has organised the traditional festivities. In Mijas Pueblo, the fun will begin a little earlier, at 20:00 hours, with dances and live music on the Plaza Virgen de la Peña, where also at 00:00 hours the residents will proceed to burn the júas (dolls) that they themselves have presented and for which prizes have been reserved. Those who wish to take part can present their 'júas' until 23:00 hours.

Juventud has also programmed a party on El Torreón beach in La Cala de Mijas, starting at 22:00 hours with live music, and at 00:00 hours the traditional burning of the 'júas' will take place.

The party continues...

For those who still want to continue partying after the night, the La Loma de la Alquería Neighbourhood Association has organised a get-together lunch for Saturday 24th of June to raise funds.

The meeting will start at 12:00 noon in Las Lomas de La Alquería in Mijas Pueblo and there will be a menu for 10 euros consisting of a rice dish, a sardine skewer and two drinks. There are other menus at 5 euros with a rice dish and a drink; or an 'espeto' of sardines and a drink. A great day of socialising, dancing and fun to continue celebrating San Juan.
