The CIOMijas, which has once again become a National Reference Centre for Vocational Training, presents its training programme for the next academic year, which will be made up of a total of 27 actions to reach 405 students.
The programme will consist of 5,720 hours of theoretical training modules and 679 hours of non-labour professional practices, for a total of 6,399 teaching hours. This was announced yesterday by the Regional Minister of Employment, Enterprise and Self-Employment, Rocío Blanco; and the delegate in Málaga, Carmen Sánchez, who attended a technical conference held at the Leisure Industry Centre together with local businessmen.
The courses, whose tenders, according to Blanco, "are already being prepared", will involve an investment of 685,965 euros and, among other subjects, will focus on basic restaurant-bar operations, restaurant services, customer service in catering, sommeliers, reception in accommodation, languages, promotion of leisure activities, cooking for coeliacs and the gastronomic offer, "knowledge that is currently in demand by companies".
During the conference, Blanco defended collaboration between public administrations and the private sector "to meet the demands of workers and the needs of companies", and referred to training as "the most effective active employment policy and as a way of boosting a sector such as the hotel and catering industry".
Since 2019, they pointed out in a press release, 3,500 people have been trained in centres such as CIOMIjas in the hotel and catering industry.
