Final preparations are underway for the start of the swimming pool season in Mijas Pueblo, specifically in the Osunillas municipal swimming pool. We already have the opening date, it will be the 23rd of June, earlier than usual, to give an extra week to the families of Mijas with children who have already finished their school year. It will also remain open until the 3rd of September, a little longer than usual to complete the weekend.
According to the acting councillor for Sports, Andrés Ruiz (Cs), "we are going to open the Osunillas swimming pool with various services for all the residents of Mijas such as access control and also lifeguarding and rescue". Access to the facilities is free and will only be allowed to residents registered in the municipality. The pool will be open every day of the week from 12:00 to 20:00 hours. It will have access control and lifeguard service whenever it is open. According to Ruiz, "at weekends, as there is a greater influx of people, we are going to reinforce the lifeguard and rescue service with two lifeguards throughout the pool opening hours".
Free swimming will not be allowed during the swimming lessons, i.e. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, when the pool will be open to the public from 14:00 hours. The Sports Council is calling for responsible use of the facilities, where a good atmosphere, tranquillity and enjoyment of the pool is the predominant note. Ruiz recalled that "the entrance will be controlled, so that proper use is made of the facility, in terms of consumption of drinks, food in the grass area. There will be capacity control by a security guard to ensure that there are no problems and that people use the pool for what it should be used for, bathing, cooling off and enjoying the afternoon".
