Excitement and hope filled the folders of the fifteen students in both courses, both on data and document recording and processing operations and cleaning of surfaces and furniture in buildings and premises. As well as this, of course, a great desire to take advantage of this training and employment opportunity. This is what some of them said on Wednesday, from their classrooms in the Training and Employment building in Las Lagunas, where the classes are held. Antonio Felipe Vegara, a student on the data processing course, said "I have signed up for this course because right now I am unemployed and my expectations are to get into the labour market and acquire more training, to be able to add something more to my CV". His colleague, Tania Gisela, stressed that "the aim is to prepare myself better to find the job that suits me and I it [laughs] I like this subject and the truth is that I need it".
There were also words of thanks from the students, who have high hopes for these training courses, such as Mohamed El Houadri, a student in the surface cleaning course: "I thank all the people who have collaborated in this initiative to give foreigners a chance, to get their papers and, secondly, to be able to enter the labour market; I thank everyone".
The courses start with good job prospects. The teacher of the surface cleaning course, Josefa Corbacho, corroborated this. The instructor assured that "we are starting with the same expectations as always, with the final objective of getting a job for each student, preparing them so that they can acquire the skills and abilities to work with ease in a job and demonstrate this when they carry out their training experience in companies, so that they are really seen as cleaning professionals and can stay working".
An 80% job placement rate is expected
These Professional Training courses for Employment also have an important social component, as they are aimed at people with difficulties finding work, such as people over 45 years of age. "There is a great demand in the area, given the temporary nature of the work that we are doing so let's hope that we really get those necessary jobs for all the students and change their lives, that's the main objective, to change the life of each one of the students and improve the situation they are in", said Corbacho.
Both courses include work experience in companies and a certificate of professionalism, "which enables them to work throughout Europe with an approved certificate; it is also important that we give training to those people who do not have it, whether due to age, economic or employment circumstances or for any other reason, such as retraining after a long period of unemployment", said the councillor for Employment Promotion, Laura Moreno (PSOE), who welcomed all the students.
The public-private collaboration between the Town Hall and local companies continues to boost employability data, as the councillor stated, since "the internships in companies are yielding very good results within the Mijas business network in collaboration with the Town Hall that end in an employment contract, which is essential for all these students who access these courses; previously, we have had an 80% employment insertion rate and I think they finish at a fantastic time for that insertion".
The course on data and document recording and processing operations has a total of 440 hours, so it will end on October 5th, and the course on cleaning surfaces and furniture in buildings and premises, with 230 hours, will end on July 31st.
