A few days after celebrating its 40th anniversary, next Monday, May 29th, the Open University will start the enrolment process for the workshops for the next academic year 2023-2024. This year, in addition, the educational offer will have new features that we will know in the coming weeks. "The new enrolment process begins, as it does every year, and the first period we have is for current students, that is, for those already enrolled in this academic year so that they can continue in the next one. The enrolment period is from May 29th to June 8th. There will be a second period for those registered in Mijas from 12th to 29th of June and a third period, also for those registered in Mijas, from 16th of August to 13th of September", explained Hipólito Zapico (PSOE), councillor for the 'Universidad Popular' in Mijas, who also explained that "people interested in attending one of the workshops but who are not registered in Mijas can sign up from 4th to 13th of September". 

"We have 22 workshops that, in some way, cover the demands of the population or courses that are already traditional in Mijas. There are language courses, music, health activities such as tai chi and yoga, tapestry...", the councillor pointed out. A wide range of courses which are currently enjoyed by around 3,000 students, and according to the department's technician, Inocencia Pérez, "this has grown exponentially and I think we don't have more students due to lack of space".
