The best-selling author from Mijas reaches this impressive figure with his six novels published so far

He has surpassed himself again. The author from Mijas, Javier Castillo, has once again touched the sky with both hands after selling more than two million books in Spain. He has managed to sell one million copies in just over two and a half years. A number that, together with the first million volumes he managed to sell in November last year 2020, when he first became famous, reaches this magical figure of volumes sold in Spanish of his six novels written to date. The author himself made this information about the numbers public through his social networks, as we are accustomed to seeing.

Exultant, together with his wife, also from Mijas and influencer Verónica Díaz, the author travelled last Saturday 13th to Madrid where he was surprised by this unexpected news from his publisher, Gonzalo Albert. His team at Suma de Letras informed Castillo that, after publishing his latest novel last February, entitled ‘El cuco de cristal’, the new line in millions had been crossed.

All this without taking into account the books that have been sold in the 17 other languages in which the writer’s stories are read. I will never forget this day. Verónica tricked me into going to Madrid and, when I arrived, I found Gonzalo Albert and all my family from Penguin Libros and Suma de Letras waiting for me to celebrate the whopping two million books sold in Spanish”, confessed the author on his Instagram account.

From the very day of its publication, ‘El cuco de cristal’ became number one on the different book sales lists in Spain and has still not left the top ten. A story that, boosted by the success of the adaptation of ‘La chica de nieve’ on Netflix and the subsequent announcement that this latest novel will also be adapted for television, has further boosted his status as author touched by the muses and fortune.

“Two million books sold in Spanish, to which I have the enormous good fortune of adding 17 more languages! I don’t know what I would say to the ‘Javi’ (referring to himself) who wrote on the train, or to the Javi who wrote stories and was ashamed to show them around, or how to thank the Javi who finished ‘El día que perdió la cordura’ and asked himself: why not? That he should understand that the things you admire most in the world are made by people like you”, Castillo concluded very emotionally in his social media profiles.
