A weekend of festivities, plays and strolls

  • One of the weekend's events is the Spring Festival organised by AV María Zambrano

The Spring Festival, the Mijas Ibérica event and the celebration of the coronation of King Charles III, among the leisure events planned

The programme of activities and events for the weekend in Mijas is very full. The first event will take place this Friday at 17:00 hours, in Mijas Pueblo, where the Mijas Secrets route 'Cinema Tour' will take place. In it, the participants will visit places in Mijas where more than 20 films have been shot. If you want to register you only have to send an email to mijassecrets@gmail.com. The price of the route is between 15 and 18 euros. 

From 19:00, the association Donkey Dreamland will offer a donkey walk under a full moon (accompanying the donkeys, not riding them). Those interested will have to make a donation of 15 euros, which also includes a drink and snack. Bookings and information can be made through the website www.donkeydreamland.com or by calling 640 111 651.

Saturday

On Saturday, La Cala de Mijas will host the solidarity walk against suicide 'Darkness into light'. The walk will start from the boulevard of La Cala at six o'clock in the morning. Registrations can be made on the website www.darknessintolight.com, through Afesol or by calling 952 440 664, at a price of 20 euros. 

The residents of the María Zambrano Association will hold their traditional Spring Festival in the neighbourhood park. From 12 noon you can enjoy flamenco music, zumba, ballet, rap and a song battle organised by Mibu from 19:00.

At 20:30, the Las Lagunas Theatre will host the 'Universidad Popular' Youth Theatre group, which will present the play 'La conjura de Cangas'. Admission is free until full capacity is reached. 

Sunday

Sunday will begin at Cortijo Don Elías, where the first Mijas Ibérica Ham Cutters Competition will take place from 12 noon onwards. During the contest, valid and scoring for the National League of Ham Cutters, attendees will be able to purchase dishes of ham at a price of 5 euros. 

At the same time, at La Butibamba Park in La Cala, the coronation party for King Charles III will begin, organised by the Lions Club with the collaboration of the Foreigners Department. There will be children's entertainment, dancing, music, stalls, food and competitions. 

Finally, at 20:00 hours, the Las Lagunas Theatre will open its doors again, this time with the play 'El Cid', by the Antonio Campos company. Admission to this performance will also be free until full capacity is reached.
