  • The aim is to increase the percentage of recycling establishments
  • The councillor for Cleaning, Laura Moreno, presented this campaign on Monday 24th along with the Ecovidrio management technician in Mijas, Iván González |

It will make more than 550 visits to establishments in the municipality to provide information, training and meet the needs of this sector

Ecovidrio has been working for 15 years with the HORECA sector in its transition to the circular economy. The objective of the new nationwide campaign is none other than to reach 75% of recycling establishments by 2025, currently the figure stands at around 67%. To achieve this goal, the non-profit organisation has made an investment of 80 million euros.  "It is all about making visits to detect the needs that they may have in terms of glass recycling as we want all hoteliers, in this case in Mijas, to bee separating glass containers at source", said the technical manager of Ecovidrio,  Ivan Gonzalez, at the presentation in Mijas, who recalled that "every bottle that we deposit in the green container will be recycled countless times".

As Ecovidrio points out, this sector generates 48% of the single-use glass containers that are put on the market, hence the special importance of being aware of the importance of recycling.

  • Ecovidrio will provide 40, 90 and 120 litre bins to promote recycling |

The councillor for Cleaning at the Mijas Town Hall, Laura Moreno (PSOE), reported, meanwhile, that the entity will carry out some 550 visits to establishments in our municipality to carry out this initiative: "An Ecovidrio representative will be responsible for providing information and environmental training and meet the needs of each of them. They are all currently recycling, but now what we have to assess is whether the recycling they are doing is adequate and whether they have the means at their disposal, so Ecovidrio is going to provide 40, 90, 120 litre bins so that we can facilitate recycling and they can take the glass to the green container".

Gonzalez said that "we will try to see what they need so that they can comfortably collect these glass containers in their establishments, we will see where the containers are located so that they are closer to their establishments trying to facilitate their daily lives and so that the deposit of these large quantities of glass are as convenient as possible for them".

Finally, Moreno stressed that "Mijas is an example in terms of recycling, hence these green flags and we think that the number of glass recycling will be much higher thanks to this campaign, which has the collaboration of the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol.
