The spring weather and natural surroundings in Mijas invite us to enjoy outdoor activities. The ‘Peña Caballista de Mijas’ (Mijas Riding Club) is well aware of this and this Saturday they are inviting horse enthusiasts to participate in the XIX Equestrian Route through the Sierra de Mijas, which this year has a great novelty, the destination will be El Camorro.
The meeting point will be El Esparragal park, where the participants are called at 9:00 am. “We will leave when we are all there at 9:30am towards El Camorro, there we will go up the Rio Fuengirola or Rio Las Pasadas, then we will continue through El Campillo, La Matanza and Fuente de la Teja, we will make a couple of stops. The route will last two hours or two hours and a bit, we will go at a leisurely pace, in good camaraderie, at the pace set by each horse, as the idea is to ride together”, explained Juan López-Ayala, president of the Mijas Equestrian Club, at a press conference this week.
The initiative has the support of the Mijas Town Hall, through the Department for Agriculture and Livestock, and councillor Arancha Lopez (Cs), highlighted the value of the surroundings through which it will take place and its objective, “it is an area of the Sierra de Mijas with great environmental wealth. Anyone who wants to come and enjoy, just contact the ‘Peña Caballista de Mijas’, it is a totally free activity, where you can enjoy being with your horse, as well as socialising and being in contact with people who love these animals”.
López also stressed that “we are one of the municipalities with the highest number of horses registered in Andalusia”. Those interested in participating in the route need only contact the peña on 635 976 703. Registration is free of charge.
