The Department for Operational Services of the Mijas Town Hall is starting work on 12 kilometres of rural roads throughout the municipality. Over a period of two months, work will be carried out on 12 roads, improving and compacting the road surface and borders with a total investment of 30,000 euros. The work has begun on the Las Coscas road and will soon be extended to other rural locations. 

The aim is to improve traffic in the area, repair any possible damage caused by rain and make it easier and more comfortable to travel along the rural roads. According to the councillor responsible for the area, José Carlos Martín (Cs), "we are carrying out actions to improve our rural roads. They are not included in the annual shock plan for the improvement of the roads, but are actions outside it on an ad hoc basis, to repair the damage caused by the winter rain. What's more, we are now taking advantage of the good weather we are enjoying". 

The repair work will be carried out in different areas such as Osunillas and Torreblanca. According to Martín, in Las Coscas "we already have a motor grader, a 19 tonne roller and a water transporting lorry. These are necessary to carry out works on rural roads which include compacting and redefining the roads, and some also need material to be added". 

The work will be carried out between April and May and has a planned investment of 30,000 euros.
