The campaign 'Explore Mijas' allows us to get closer to the history, fauna, flora and most important monuments of La Cala de Mijas, with the help of the students of the four schools. "It came up as an idea for the students of all the schools to get to know our village a little better, a very complete project made by them and which will be available to everyone through the QR codes", said the director of El Olmo school, Manuel Álvarez.
A total of 12 points of interest have been created, which can be found throughout La Cala. All you have to do is scan the QR code with your mobile phone to access all the information, in Spanish and English. "I find this initiative very interesting, so that people learn about La Cala, which is very beautiful", says Zacarías, one of the students who participated in this campaign.
In January 2021 this initiative began to take shape with the participation of the four schools of La Cala together with the Department for Education. "We met with the directors, they proposed the idea they had and what they wanted to do and, of course, we loved it and we have teamed up with them to make this a reality", says the councillor for Education of the Mijas Town Hall, Mariló Olmedo (Cs).
The Tourism and Environment departments have also collaborated, highlighting the work carried out by the students and teachers. "Just as we did with the Selfie Route, which has been a great success, this campaign is a new attraction, where the protagonists are the children, whose natural attitude makes the information much more accessible", said the councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs),
For her part, the councillor for the Environment, Arancha López (Cs), pointed out that "through this work they are going to make known, both in Spanish and English, the environmental wealth that we have in the municipality".
It should also be noted that Mijas Comunicación has been in charge of the production of the promotional spot for the campaign.
