The Town Planning councillor values the tourist interest of the Valle del Golf

  • The project will be implemented on an area of 1,024,000 square metres.

In the last plenary session, the modification of elements of the PGOU of Mijas was provisionally approved to make this complex a reality

In the last ordinary plenary session held at the Mijas Town Hal for the month of February, on the 22nd, the municipal corporation provisionally approved the amendment of the General Plan for Urban Development (PGOU) in Mijas to move the Valle del Golf Resort forward. It is a tourist interest project that has been valued by the councillor for Town Planning, Andrés Ruiz (Cs), who pointed out that “the tourist interest of this complex goes beyond a merely local interest, but reaches the territory of the Andalusian community itself”.

The fact is that “the final approval must be granted by the Andalusian Government, who already in July 2019 declared this project to be of tourist interest”, which means “a modification to implement, not only an 18-hole golf course that may, at first glance, be the most attractive or the most relevant or what attracts the most attention, but also a golf school and an international equestrian center of reference is also to be implemented”.

In addition, all this will be accompanied by a five-star hotel, which will provide, according to Ruiz, a “leap in quality and the number of hotel rooms in the municipality”, and other facilities, such as a training centre, physiotherapy, restaurants, businesses, in short, a tourist resort and a high-level tourist complex.

A “sustainable” project

Ruiz recalled that “this project will be carried out on a total area of 1,024,000 square metres” and thanks to it “the route of the road from La Cala to Entrerríos will also be improved”.

The councillor also remarked that “it will be a sustainable project in terms of mobility, with its own reforestation plan, and with green and public areas that will reach 67,000 square metres”. “The project, at the time the work can be undertaken, will have a maximum period of urbanization of six months and the deadline for the construction of the rest of the facilities will be 18 months”, he added.
