The Local Government in Mijas seeks to increase the green areas in Las Lagunas. A few days ago work began to this end on the avenue Ampa Las Caracolas, where they are planting 21 chefleras and 63 photinias.
The work, promoted by the Department for Parks and Gardens, constitutes the second project in the area, where 24 linden trees were previously planted. “We aim to create green areas so that citizens can walk in the shade, especially because in our municipality, from April to October we have plenty of sunshine and we must find pleasant spaces for everyone and also thinking of our elders so they can go for their walks”, said the councillor for Parks and Gardens, Laura Moreno (PSOE).
Most of the plants come from the municipal nursery. “We have Antonia who does a magnificent job there and many other people who with few resources achieve incredible work with the plants, there are also some trees that were given as compensation for certain felling carried out, but most of them come from the nursery”, Moreno explained.
The work is expected to be completed within two weeks. Later on, the roundabout that gives access to Las Lagunas from this point will also be repaired.
