The Department for the Environment in the Mijas Town Hall presented last Tuesday the 21st of February its third Photography Contest of Singular Trees, which is organized on the occasion of World Tree Day (March 21st). Photos can already be submitted and the deadline for submission is March the 15th. The theme of this initiative is precisely that of the unique trees of Mijas, so that participants, who may use both their mobile phone and a camera, can follow any of the eight routes that can be consulted on the environmental portal of the website of the Town Hall, where there are more than 60 specimens. The photographs must be submitted in .jpg format, no smaller than 2 MB, the technique is free, you can use filters and retouching, although photomontage is not allowed and you can submit a maximum of 3 photographs. All participants must send them by email to medioambiente@mijas.es indicating in the subject singular trees of Mijas photo contest and in the text box their personal data (name, surname, ID, email and phone number).
The prizes foreseen for the winners are a first prize of 200 euros, a second prize of 100 euros, a third prize of 50 euros and a popular jury prize for the photo that gets more ‘likes’ on social networks, which is also awarded 50 euros. The works will be original and must be owned by the photographer. Also, all photos yield their right of publication so that the Department for the Environment can publish them on its social networks, as well as for the poster announcing next year’s contest. According to the councillor for the department, Arancha López (Cs), “this contest is gaining in quality year after year. More and more people are presenting their entries. Participants can submit a maximum of three photographs with a short text indicating the reason why they have chosen this tree, whether for its proximity, beauty or for what it transmits to them”.
