  • Red Cross Employment Technician, the councillor for Social Services, the Director of Human Resources of Wyndham Costa del Sol and the councillor for Employment Promotion

The classes will be face-to-face and will consist of a total of fifty hours between the theoretical and practical modules

The Red Cross has presented this week at the facilities of Wyndham Costa del Sol the professional training course ‘Basic operations in   accommodation flats’, which has the collaboration of the hotel group and the co-financing of the Mijas Town Hall and the European Union, for a total of 10,000 euros.

The training will be aimed at the participants of the ‘Itinerarios Laborales que Suman’ project. “It is focused on teaching the trade of waitress or waiters in accommodation and involves a practical part to learn”, explained the Red Cross Employment Technician, Patricia Wilkenschildt. The classes will be face-to-face and will consist of 50 hours between the theoretical and practical modules.

According to the councillor for Employment Promotion of the Mijas Town Hall, Laura Moreno (PSOE), “the Town Hall, through the Social Services area, collaborates with the Red Cross in this initiative, which is doing an impeccable job with a view to the labour insertion of each and every one of the people who come to them and those who are looking for a job and, for this, training is necessary to be competitive in today’s market”.

Wyndham Costa del Sol joins the project by making its facilities available. “We will have to learn some basic concepts that will be taught in our classrooms and then the practical training in our flats and by May, when the course begins, Wyndham will have a greater volume of visitors and the students will learn this profession ‘in situ’”, explained the director of Human Resources at Wyndham Costa del Sol, Juan Miguel Marcos.

The theoretical module is scheduled to start on the 11th of May until the 26th of June and will continue with practical classes from the 29th of May until the 16th of June. The councillor for Social Services of Mijas Town Hall, Hipólito Zapico (PSOE), explained that “it is a programme co-financed by the European Union and the Mijas Town Hall and from the Social Services Department we have allocated 1,000 euros per year for this modality. Thanks to the fact that it has been carried out during the current term of office, it has obtained positive results reflected in the statistics of the Red Cross, managing to insert many people in the labour market”.
