Live music, something to drink and plenty to eat, such as homemade cakes… not a bad plan for a morning in front of the sea on Sunday, in one of the rooms of the Centro Comercial El Zoco (Calahonda), headquarters of Soroptimist International Costa del Sol, organisers of this concert, by the violinist, pianist, singer, composer and teacher Sofía Bovin, who performed different pieces of classical music by great composers such as Bach, Beethoven or Vivaldi.
The artist, who claims that music is the most metaphysical of all artistic disciplines, encouraged all those present to learn to play an instrument, regardless of their age or stage in life. She gave a good example of this with her son Miguel, who accompanied her at the concert and opened with a violin piece.
This was the first New Year's concert organised by Soroptimist and they wanted it to be for charity, as the president of the group, Daphne Theunissen, said, "we want to raise money for our Mijas Union Basket mini girls' basketball team, which is made up of girls aged 8-9; this is the third year that we have sponsored it".
Soroptimist is delighted to support this basketball team, as, according to Theunissen, "sport is very good for learning to play basketball and also to learn to play as a team and in a group, to know how to win and lose"
