This Friday, Nicolás Cruz (PSOE), councillor for Public Roads of the Mijas Town Hall, took stock of the management carried out by this department during 2022, emphasising the permits that were granted for the recording of documentaries, films or series in the municipality. "Mijas was the scene of up to twelve audiovisual shootings, which makes us think that our municipality, which offers white village areas, beach areas and urban environments, creates interest among audiovisual producers, also projecting a very interesting image of the municipality, even at an international level", he stressed.
The authorised recordings include the series 'Casi hemos llegado', 'Sexy Beast', 'The Paradise' or 'Los Farad', a short fiction film, the television programmes 'A place in the sun' and 'Se B&B of Love', an advertisement for the BMV car chain and the filming of different scenes by the Isla Audiovisual production company. "It is a figure that has surprised us a lot, especially because these recordings have doubled compared to the previous year", said Cruz.

On the other hand, the councillor for Public Roads also highlighted the 10 percent increase in the number of requests for occupation of public roads and parking permits.
On the one hand, in 2022 the department processed a total of 279 licences to occupy the public thoroughfare with elements such as chairs and tables, barrels, stalls or terraces, among others. "This data also leads us to believe that both the hospitality sector and the construction sector, in everything related to small reforms or small developments, continue to grow in the municipality of Mijas, which is important because it generates employment for much of the year," said the councillor.
On the other hand, from January to December 2022, up to 150 parking permits were managed, 70 of which were resolved favourably, "and we have observed that many of these permits are due to changes of ownership of the people who reside in these homes, so it also shows that there is greater activity in the real estate sector in our municipality", added Cruz.
The increase in the number of licences compared to 2021 reflects, according to Cruz, "the progressive increase in economic and social activity in Mijas, as well as the ease of bureaucracy when applying for these licences", concluded the head of Public Roads.
