The Fair for Hotel and Tourism Employment in Mijas, organised on Thursday 12th of January at the Mediterráneo restaurant, located in the Wyndham Costa del Sol facilities, was a great success: more than 1.000 registrations received, around 800 interviews were carried out with candidates applying for one of the 100 jobs that the company is offering in the many different departments: reception, administration, housing, maintenance, restaurants and bars and entertainment.
The hospitality department is the one with the highest volume of candidates during the first part of the day.
For his part, the front office manager, Ricardo López, assured that “there have been very good profiles, who really deserve a next interview to be able to study their CV with more emphasis because they have a lot of experience”.
The types of contracts and their duration will be adjusted to the needs of the company. Idiliq Group’s Human Resources Director, Juan Miguel Marcos, said that “the balance we are making is very positive, not only for the quantity but also for the quality, this fair has exceeded all our expectations, so we are very happy because we are meeting our objectives”.
Institutional support
The Mijas Town Hall, through the Employment Promotion Department, and also the CIO Mijas have collaborated in the organisation of this employment fair.
In this regard, the mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), said that “we will always collaborate with the Idiliq Group to generate employment in the municipality and for the Mijeños to be lucky and end up improving their working conditions” and added that “from the Town Hall we firmly believe in public-private collaboration, and therefore we always try to generate links and opportunities that benefit the citizens of Mijas”. In this sense, the councillor for Employment Promotion in Mijas, Laura Moreno (PSOE), said that “for the local government it is very important for us that the unemployed in our municipality not only have training opportunities, but also job opportunities. I think it is very important that the Mijas Town Hall makes all the necessary resources available to the unemployed people of Mijas so that, in this case, they can join a leading tourism group”.
The new director of CIOMijas, Raquel Hidalgo, also attended this event: “We, at the SAE school, collaborate in the training process so that the students can be incorporated with work experience or, on the other hand, training them for employability. Also from the SAE we select people for the profiles they need”.
Once this Employment Fair is over, and all the profiles are evaluated, the company will contact all the candidates to inform them if they are going to continue or not in the selective process.
