After working in the Doña Pilar urbanisation and in Mijas Golf, the Mijas Town Hall continues to carry out the 'V Plan de Asfaltado de Urbanizaciones'. This Monday, the work reached El Coto, specifically, Codornices, Urogallos, Rebeco and El Corzo streets. "They have started work on both El Corzo and Urogallos and, once they finish here, they will move on to the other two streets", said the councillor for Infrastructures and Works, José Carlos Martín (Cs), who added that "this action does not pose a serious problem because they are not complete renovations, but, as always, we apologise to the citizens for the inconvenience that these works may cause, which, to be honest, are going to be quick". 

In this urbanisation, the Town Hall has invested 320,000 euros in asphalting over the last six years. Specifically, the current plan allocates 153,000 euros to the improvement of the roads of these four streets under the tool of the subsidy in kind. The plan echoes the demand made by urbanisations such as this one, El Coto, with roads, according to the spokesman of the urbanisation, Juan Luis Flores, "more than forty years’ old which were already in a very bad state of deterioration, which is why I and all the board of directors of El Coto were demanding it, so we offer our thanks to the corporation for carrying out these works". The work in this residential area began Monday 9th, and will finish next Wednesday, according to municipal sources. "The community has asked us for other roads, which are being studied by technicians from the Infrastructures and Works department and which will be included in future editions, as the department is already working on the sixth edition of this project", added the deputy mayor. 

The 5th Urbanisation Asphalting Plan will affect 47 streets in fifteen residential areas (Doña Pilar, Ana María, Buganvillas, Calahonda, Campomijas, Chalets Rocío, Cortijo Calahonda, El Coto, Gran Calahonda, La Sierrezuela, Los Olivos phase 1 and 2, Mijas Golf, Miraflores and Playa Marina). In total, work will be carried out on 15 kilometres of roads with an investment of 1,626,000 euros. In addition to the renovation of the paving, the signposting of the roads will be changed in order to "make the area safer", said the councillor. Martín said that "the idea is that during the month of January these works will be completed in all these urbanisations; right now in Calypso they are also carrying out work to start with the asphalting this week".

The Infrastructures and Works Department pointed out that the sixth Urbanisation Asphalting Plan will be launched this year together with the Asphalting Conservation and Maintenance Plan, as well as the Improvement and Repair Plan, both carried out by Operational Services. In this way, the rest of the urbanisations which need to improve the tarmac on their streets will be included in this renovation project, which is being developed by the Town Hall and responds to the needs of the urbanisations.
