The Parks and Gardens Department of the Mijas Town Hall has carried out various maintenance works at the Andalucía Park in Las Lagunas. The councillor responsible for the department, Laura Moreno, (PSOE), reported that the main interventions have focused on the children’s play area, where several of the pieces of equipment, which were deteriorated by use, have been renewed, structural elements of some of the playground rides have been replaced and some of the games have been repainted. “These measures are part of the municipal plan for the renovation of playgrounds thanks to the Town Hall’s contract which allows us to change those elements that are quite deteriorated”, explained councillor Moreno.

However, of all the interventions, the installation of an adapted swing in this park stands out, assured Moreno: “It was the only park that did not yet have this swing and we considered that it was necessary to provide the possibility for all children to enjoy this play area together with their families, regardless of their capacities”. The Mijas Town Hall stressed that families should make responsible use of this swing for children with reduced mobility. They pointed out that this would not be the first time that the safety belts, which are an essential element to ensure that  the children can enjoy this attraction safely, have been removed from these swings.
