The mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), with the councillor for Markets, Verónica Ensberg (PSOE), began the distribution of the material for the new campaign to promote local commerce during the Christmas shopping season.
"Once again we have come to promote our local commerce, which this time we are starting in our beloved ‘abastos’ market, and we do so with a campaign in which the protagonists will be precisely the stalls themselves as each month of these calendars is starred by each of these businesses, so that we fulfill a dual function, to promote local products and the quality of these products, while we also promote responsible and sustainable consumption through the distribution of these 2. 500 reusable cloth bags, so that we join forces to eliminate the use of plastic bags in everyday shopping", explains González, who encourages people to "consume in local shops, in our municipal market, our neighbourhood shops and our street markets, where they will find quality products at very competitive prices and a personalised service".
In this regard, and as explained by the local government, the campaign, which will include advertising spots to promote the food market and the local street markets, will seek to "boost consumption in these spaces, which are benchmarks for quality", as Ensberg explains: "of the total number of calendars, 500 units are table calendars promoting the food market and another 1,500 units promoting the local street markets", material to which "pens and reusable bags will be added, so that the customers themselves are the ones who promote these spaces in their everyday shopping".
The local government recalls the importance given to these spaces in recent years, "with the promotion of new stalls in the food market, as well as the introduction of 'food trucks' at the street markets", all of this "in order to continue to promote these trusted family businesses and quality references".
