There has been another day of excursions for seniors who have been invited by the Mijas Town Hall, which has promoted the new traditional format for the Christmas lunch in this month of December, the novelty is the visit to cities in Andalusia and in small groups. They travelled to Granada where they visited the city, Christmas markets, the sanctuary of Fray Leopoldo and the monastery of La Cartuja, as well as enjoyed the Christmas lunch.
"In all the trips we are making, they have bought lottery tickets and enjoyed a splendid day, Granada is spectacular and bright today, with the added bonus of seeing the snow-capped and sunny mountains, offering us a more Christmassy picture of the city", said the mayor of Mijas, Josele Gonzalez (PSOE).
This is one of the seven groups travelling this year, made up of 250 retired people and pensioners. In total, together with the rest of the groups, there are just over 1,500 people.
"We wanted to include this novelty this year and in each trip we are assessing what they like best and how they feel most comfortable so that we can work for the next trip", said the councillor for Seniors, Tamara Vera (PSOE).
"We have visited the Monastery of Fray Leopoldo and we have walked around a lot", said one of the participants.  "We bought bread and little else, and we had a great time", said another of the seniors who signed up for the trip.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday there are scheduled departures to Seville, Jerez and Ronda.  The trips include transport, breakfast, route, lunch, visits with specialised guides, health staff and staff from the Seniors' Department. These trips are aimed at retired people registered in Mijas. There are still three more trips to go, each with approximately 200 people. At each lunch there is also a concert, in this case a typical music group from Granada.
